Vannan and Ascrod were sent to infiltrate Redwall Abbey and steal the famous Tapestry of Martin the Warrior. They succeeded, but their treacherous brother Mokkan stole it for himself and took it back to Castle Marl. Vannan orchestrated the alliance between the Marlfoxes and the barbarian ferret Raventail, as she was very conniving and manipulative. Vannan was killed by an otter's javelin during the final battle at Redwall.
