Tracing their origins back to before the War of the Ancients, the Starbreeze family were among those of the warrior class who fought back against the Highborne. Despite suffering as many casualties as most Kaldorei households, they were not badly scattered in the ensuing cataclysm. The family regrouped in Ashenvale forest, in the northern reaches that would later become Darkshore. Although several sentinel members of the family participated in the battle at Mount Hyjal, the majority in Auberdine were too far away to join in the defense of the world tree.
