Gratar lived during a time that featured two Draenors-one a verdant paradise, the other a barren wasteland. It was the status quo of the latter that would prompt the orcs to invade the world of Azeroth, journeying through the Dark Portal. Gratar however, remained on guard duty on the Draenor side of the portal alongside Brodog, with whom he would engage in games of chance (and almost always lose). His state of idleness was broken when he saw clamour on the other side of the portal, witnessing the Horde's final defeat at the hands of the Alliance.
