Nova 13 was a disease that was known by the time of the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. A sample of one strain of the disease was stored in the vaults on board the Imperial treasure ship King's Ransom during the war. It was stolen, along with various other valuable objects, by a smuggler working as a Republic privateer.
