The Doctor was on the scene as people were pulled from the wreckage and rubble following a train crashing through the viaduct and onto the Street in May 1967. When David Barlow found the body of Sonia Peters in the rubble but didn't know if she was alive or dead, the white-haired doctor climbed through to her with his first aid kit. He returned a few minutes later, just as her fiancé Jimmie Conway arrived at the scene to find out if there was any news of Sonia. The doctor broke the news to him that she hadn't survived.
