The TIE/gt, known better as the TIE Ground Targeting, is based on the standard TIE Fighter design but with the main pod elongated to accommodate a bomb bay. The TIE/gt is the predecessor to the TIE Bomber. Perhaps its only advantage over the newer design is that it is more maneuverable than the TIE Bomber because the TIE/gt is so closely related to the TIE Fighter.
