The North Bay Centennials were a major junior team. They played in the Ontario Hockey League from 1982 to 2002. The Centennials played in the North Bay Memorial Gardens. The Centennials were born when the second version of the Niagara Falls Flyers moved to North Bay in 1982 after a new arena was turned down in Niagara Falls. The team won the league title in 1993-94 but lost out in that year's Memorial Cup round robin tournament, An aging arena, declining attendance, and a poor on-ice record led to the team's sale and move to become the Saginaw Spirit in 2002.
