Patterns of the Beast is a work on Animal by Konur of Bjornaer, written in 911. Konur was not a strong writer and the book is virtually ignored outside of House Bjornaer, though some within that House find it to be filled with symbolism regarding the nature of the Heartbeast. Those without merely find it cryptic, sloppy and obtuse.
