After a strong start to the 2009-10 campaign, Rovers traveled to Norwich City's Carrow Road ground in a buoyant mood following a last gasp winner at Southampton earlier in the week earning a 3–2 victory and maintaining third place in League One. The long journey east proved to be a step too far for the Pirates however, and they slumped to their biggest defeat of the season so far.
