Construction on the station was initiated under Cardassian leader Kotan Darek, who utilized the famous, imprisoned Bajoran architect Charna Sar to fully realize the design of the station. (DS9 comic: "Terok Nor") Work on the station was finally completed in 2346. (DS9 episode: "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night", Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook) The Visual Dictionary states that the station was completed in 2351. In the early 2360s, the Ferengi, Quark opened Quark's Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade on the station's Promenade.
