The Samsung SCH-W531 is a CDMA and GSM dual-mode cellular telephone. In New Zealand it is carried by Telecom New Zealand, but can be unlocked to work on the Vodafone New Zealand network, the 2 Degrees Network or any other GSM network (within New Zealand or overseas). The handset is a hybrid dual-mode however only one radio can be active at one time, not both concurrently. The device is designed primarily for use on the home CDMA network but can roam to CDMA and GSM networks worldwide. The GSM roaming capabilities are provided through the roaming partner, CSL.
