Upon returning to Stargate Command, he was ordered by General Maurice Vidrine to determine if the planet contained enough Naquadah to warrant using force against the Unas. Meanwhile, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Chaka attempted to negotiate with the Unas leader Iron Shirt. He discovered a large vein of Naquadah and had no intent to leave. When Iron Shirt gathered all the tribes and attacked the camp, he wanted to fight but was convinced by Daniel that they would easily be defeated. Daniel convinced him to kneel and allow him to negotiate with Iron Shirt again. After several hours, Daniel managed to convince Iron Shirt to mine the Naquadah to help defeat the Goa'uld.
