On the 1st of September 2008, Aurora Borealis announced on the CN Forums the establishment of Aurora Australis, a program that would test activity and prowess of potential members. The name comes from the manifestation of the Auroran lights in the Antarctic regions. Aurora Australis is an extention of Aurora Borealis just as both the Northern Lights and the Southern Lights are both manifestations of the same phenemenona. The program is designed as not only as an activity check and mentorship program, but also as a means of breeding unity and comradery among Auroran nations.
