The Nova-B was named for the prototype of the Nova-class science vessel. Since the year 2409, the Nova-B served as the representative of its class in the ship selection screen of the Earth Spacedock shipyard. (STO - "Klingon War" mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock") Originally a tier 2 science vessel, the Nova underwent a retrofit and was raised to tier 5 status.
