Hex tiles or hex(es) is an all-encompassing term for the basic building blocks of The Settlers of Catan and its expansions. They are hexagonal tiles, usually cardboard, with various different terrains printed on one side (the reverse is usually an Ocean terrain). Hex tiles are separated into various sub-categories.
