Beambaiting was a tactic used by the Imperial Navy. A small naval unit, often a Pursuit Line, would chase a Rebel Alliance unit to a world known to harbor Rebel sympathizers, who would launch reinforcements. The Imperials would stage a retreat, followed by the larger Rebel fleet, to a point where a prearranged Imperial attack group would emerge from hyperspace and obliterate the Rebels.
