The Guwimith Pre-Season Cup is a knockout competition with an initial group stage held before the commencement of the G-League. It is considered a warm up competition by some teams, but is more seriously competed for by others, as it does carry some significant prize money. The tournament consists of two groups of four teams, with the top two teams from each group going through to a single legged knockout semi final competing against a team from the other group, with both winners passing through to the final. There is no playoff for third place.
