Scruffers was a dog from Earth which once traveled over 3,000 kilometers to reunite with his Human keeper. When Phlox was running Enterprise NX-01 alone in 2153 and had to care for Porthos, he read about dogs' territorial behavior and Scruffers' story. (ENT: "Doctor's Orders")
