The shape (body style in Generation IV and form in Generation V) is an attribute that all Pokémon have. The amount of body styles is defined in the video games, and there are only 14 groups of Pokémon, each group defining the Pokémon by the characteristics of their bodies, fundamentally the limbs. The first games that included this classification were Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and it has been present since then in all the main games of Pokémon. The classification is found in the Pokédex.
