When House reached an impasse in the case, he decided he had to wake Adam from his induced protective coma to ask him how he felt just before he crashed. He instructed the anesthesiologist to revive him, but he refused because he knew Adam was in intense pain because of his burns. However, House pulled rank as attending and ordered him to do it. After Adam woke up screaming and was only able to tell House that he involuntarily urinated, the anesthesiologist told Adam's parents.
