On May 13, 2000, Volée Airlines Flight 180 (or Flight 180) departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, and was destined for Paris, France when it exploded upon takeoff and killed everyone aboard. It is the first major catastrophe of the series seen in Final Destination and the second chronological disaster, given the events of Final Destination 5.
