Shumi is the name of two characters in Random Kingdom VXR, a young woman and her grandmother. The older Shumi is the village elder of Phô Bôm, a village at the feet of the Spine of the World, near Temenos. Fourty years before the onset of the story, she had an affair with a high-ranking monk from Temenos, who left her a pendant, which, when worn, would make the monastery's techno-magical defense systems not consider her a threat, allowing her to gain access to the monastery. She became pregnant with a daughter and, being unable to name the real father (given the country's laws, he would have been executed), she tossed the pendant into a crevasse and married a village boy.
