The Federal Investigative Agency, or FIA, was one of two agencies the government of the reestablished Republic of Haven formed to fulfill the former functions of the Office of State Security (StateSec) after it was abolished. First headed by General Kevin Usher, the FIA was responsible for internal crime fighting at the federal level and counter-intelligence operations, but specifically without the repressive elements StateSec (or its predecessor, InSec) used. External espionage was delegated to a sister agency, the Foreign Intelligence Service. (HH10)
