Shinjo Jurei was a samurai-ko of the Unicorn Clan. She commanded a unit who eventually engaged in combat, being Jurei grievously injured and the healer, Iuchi Nobatagi, was killed. Her yojimbo Ide Hai-ying aided Jurei to arrive to a monastery where the monk tended her wounds. Jurei returned to duty after she was recovered, but knowing her time for retirement as a nun was near.
