Chris Ryan is a real-life English ex-SAS soldier, who later became a novelist. Ryan was a member of the ill-fated Bravo Two Zero eight-man SAS patrol deployed in Iraq during the First Gulf War in January 1991. The patrol became compromised after being spotted, and eventually all members of the patrol except Ryan either died or were captured by enemy forces. He escaped across enemy lines without food, with little water and by walking 190 miles through enemy territory into Syria. Chris was consulted for his knowledge on real world weapons and their behaviour, which was incorporated into IGI 2.
