The NES version of Metal Gear features a different opening sequence than the original MSX2 version, in which Snake is not the sole infiltrator into enemy territory. Although Snake later receives assistance from three Resistance members (Schneider, Diane, and Jennifer), and must also rescue numerous POWs in the fortress, no connection between these groups and the three parachuting companions is ever established.
