Desert Fortress was a large settlement built in Desert Valley on Malastare. It was located inside an immense cave formed by geological catastrophes and erosion. The cave supported an underground river, the only source of water in Desert Valley, which was used as a mote up to the fortress. The fortress itself was a massive castle with nearly a hundred towers and many interlocking walls. The fortress was built by the Dugs around 4,000 BBY. Mi-Gaul Jinn gained access to ownership of Desert Fortress through a bet on a podrace before his Jedi career, and donated the land to the New Jedi Order when Darth Infineus's Quantum-class Hypertransport conquered Yavin IV.
