The Fantastic Four first met Tony Stark to investigate why he sent various version of the Iron Man armour to attack them. After deducing that someone had broken into his hall of armour and helping the FF save the employees of Stark Enterprises from a bomb, Iron Man went after the one responsible for stealing the technology – Dr. Doom. After initially refusing the FF’s help, he did later team up with them to stop Doom, who had managed to control Iron Man’s armour and forced him to attack the world’s greatest heroes. Reed and HERBIE eventually managed to override Doom’s control and defeated Doom. Iron Man then accepted the FF as friends and offered to return the favour they did for him.
