Torching is an ability native to the world of Downside. Designed by the Admin, all occupants of Downside are able to torch. Anything that would otherwise be fatal instead causes the person to reset to a healthy state, accompanied by illusory flames. For this reason, Downsiders sometimes "mercy kill" people to return them to health if they are obviously near death. Torching does not prevent the pain or other discomforts of dying, it simply changes the end result. People who torch will find their apparent age slowly reaches approximately twenty five and remains there.
