On a return trip to the future aboard their Time Bubble, several members of the Legion of Super-Heroes find themselves stuck in a time eddy and are forced to make an "emergency landing" in the 23rd century. Meanwhile, the crew of the Starship Enterprise beam down to Earth so that Captain Kirk can give a commencement speech. Both groups discover that they've appeared on a drastically changed Earth.
