In the early 20th Century PD, the industry was underdeveloped and the standard of living was poor. Solarian transstellars like Krestor Interstellar and Mendoza of Córdoba had ruined the local small-business sector. President Jacqueline McCready ruled with the backing of the Seraphim System Security Police, which, being better equipped than even the Seraphim Army, crushed any resistance against her regime.
