There was no inter-university competition this year. University of Alberta competed in the Edmonton City League. University of Saskatchewan only had a team in the Saskatchewan Junior League. University of Manitoba had a senior team in the 1927-28 Thunder Bay-Manitoba Hockey League and a junior team in the 1927-28 MJHL Season. The senior team went on to win the Allan Cup.
