The Netel was a swift destroyer class vessel that was equipped with weaponry that sacrificed armour strength. This made them tough opponents but one that could easily be destroyed if caught by weapon fire. They were usually assigned on patrol missions to ensure that Cardassian space was not violated by intruders. Its speed made it also an excellent raider which allowed it to penetrate weakly defended systems with ease and escape before enemy starships could arrive. A later type II model would utilize more up-to-date technologies to keep this craft effective. (TNG game: Birth of the Federation)
