Kirkleas is a small town to the south of Arlesdale. Despite its remoteness, it is very much the heart of the community. It isn't serviced by any current railway. Legend says that this was the first place where St. Machan was given a kind welcome and it is thusly dedicated to him. The old Drixon family Manor House (now a hotel; renamed "The Ormstead") is located here.
