Shantil III was the inhabited third planet in its star system. This was the homeworld of an intelligent species. It was in the same sector as El-Adrel IV, Kanda IV, Malindi VII, and Razna V. It was the site of a mytho-historical drama, in which the characters Darmok and Jalad faced a common foe on the island-continent of Tanagra, and achieved mutual understanding in the process.
