Soul Eater was contracted for 51 episodes and around episode 37 they branched off from the manga so they could give the series an ending with the remaining episodes. The anime has been given an ending so it is unlikely that Soul Eater will be given a second season as the anime's story branch is already finished. EDIT: That the anime got an ending and that the contract was for 51 episodes does not have to do with anything~! Example: Fullmetal Alchemist. Also from BONES and had also 51 episodes. Did not follow the manga and now there is a "Remake" that does follow the manga.
