Hanzō (半蔵, Hanzō) is a puppet currently used by Shiki; it was created from the corpse of the legendary ninja and former leader of Amegakure, Hanzō of the Salamander (山椒魚の半蔵, Sanshōuo no Hanzō). In life Hanzo was powerful shinobi who became famous around the time of the Second Great Shinobi World War. He was eventually killed by the former leader of the Akatsuki, Pain. During a solo mission into the Hidden Rain Village, Shiki took the opportunity to dig up Hanzo’s grave and steal his corpse without raising too much suspicion.
