One of the main features of mountain-themed stages is that, being taken place on a mountains, the area is usually very rocky and unstable. Sometimes, mountain-themed stages can take place high enough to be associated with sky-themed stages. For the enemies, flying based enemies such as Paratroopas are common in this type of stage. Bullet Bills and their cannon are also very common as enemies and hazards. Bottomless pits are a main hazard along with spikes on an occasion.
