The Avilatan Badlands was a region of the island of Avilatan on the planet of Ord Mantell. The majority of the area was covered in craters. During the Cold War, Republic and Separatist forces often fought in the badlands. Many traps, such as mines, were placed in the badlands in an attempt to kill enemy forces. Republic troops often placed wagers on competitors trying to disarm mines. An important road led through the Badlands. Separatist forces attempted to ambush Republic convoys traveling through the Badlands. The Badlands also bordered the Republic's outpost of Fort Garnik.
