The group was formed on the first day of Shine and Shadow's journey when the quad met. They decided that since Melanie and Austin were stuck traveling with them, the blamed "The Lightsoul" (referring to Shine and Shadow's last name). Eventually the band of misfits became close and decided to split up with Shine, Melanie and Austin on one team and Shadow on the other team.
