This Italian pasta is made to look like gnocchi, the popular potato dumplings. To confuse matters, a larger version of gnocchetti is also called gnocchi. Both sizes are good with thick sauces. A pasta variety that is shaped like a curved shell with ridges on the outer surface. It is a smaller version of the dried gnocchi pasta. Gnocchetti pasta is well suited for use with heavy sauces. If gnocchetti is unavailable, cavatelli and malloreddus may be substituted.
