He, as part of Lt. Ford's group, was attacked by a group of Wraith during the battle who beamed in on their position, surrounding them. During the ensuing skirmish, he was shot in the back by a wraith stunner, causing him to fall to the ground. When Lt. came under attack by a Wraith, this individual pulled a grenade out of his vest, removing the pin and releasing it from his palm with his last bit of remaining strength. The ensuing explosion engulfed the entire balcony in fire, knocking both Ford and the Wraith into the ocean below. This individual was presumably killed by that explosion.
