Volume 1 collects the Star Wars: The Old Republic, Blood of the Empire, a webcomic series that was released online as part of the multimedia project surrounding the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic; Blood of the Empire had previously been released in three printed comics. Volume 1 was released on February 9, 2011, and although Blood of the Empire was the second webcomic in the series, it was collected in a trade paperback before the first series Threat of Peace was collected.
