The 1959-05 was a Convertible Series event held at Marlboro Motor Speedway on April 5, 1959. Jim Reed appeared as though he would be the victor, but an engine problem with one lap to go dashed his hopes. Instead, Rex White, whom Reed had been battling for much of the race, went onto a one-lap victory on Reed. It was White's only career victory.
