The party, initially called Social Revival Party(SRP) was founded in 2008 by then 79 year old excomunist leader Ion Iliescu. The party was initially of left wing orientation. Having been president twice before, Iliescu had plenty of experience in political fights. However the governing of his party was considered to be poor. The initial symbols of PLP were the dragon as a flag - due to Iliescu being called a political dinosaur - and As da zile de la mine(I'd give away days of my own) by Sorin Pustiul was the anthem. 23 feb 2008 - SRP is founded by Ion Iliescu.
