Sometimes called Arabia Petralis. Arabia had been a province of Ptolemaic Egypt. At the time of the kingdom's defeat in 754(1) the borders of the province remained unchanged. During Anastasivs' reign Arabia's southern border was extended far down the Mare Erythraeum. The southern regions were separated into the province of Hejaz in 1302(549). Arabia was granted a seat in the Senate in 1998(1245).
