Ezerna was founded around 2600 BC by Ashur tribesmen settling down. Their city was centered around a walled complex that contained government buildings, the palace and the Sun Temple. Like other tribes in the region, the temples here are step-pyramid like, but those built by the desert tribes are blockier.
