He was unknowingly kidnapped by Childress and thought, he saw his father murdered on the way by Arab terrorists. In reality his father was a victim of an attempted murder orchestrated by Childress using agents disguised as Arab terrorists, so he can have Robin under his control and turn him into a weapon without interference from Peter.
