The 2018 elections to the United States Senate were held on November 6, 2018 with 33 of the 100 seats in the Senate being contested in regular elections whose winners served six-year terms from January 3, 2019 until January 3, 2025. Democrats had 23 seats up for election, additionally 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats are faced the end of their current term. Republicans had 8 seats up for election. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ended up retiring from his position following the elections, and was replaced with South Dakota Senator John Thune.
