Endor ponies were beasts of war ridden by Ewoks. They were trained from birth by the Ewoks to be mean, distrustful creatures. This was accomplished by regular beatings and keeping the ponies in a state of constant starvation. As this training made them too temperamental to serve as pack animals, Ewoks used them mainly for hunting and warfare. The ponies were extremely vicious in battle, trained to bite and kick down anything in their way. It was quite an accomplishment to successfully train an Endor pony, and only the bravest and most accomplished Ewoks had the honor of riding one into battle.
